In the vast majority of cases in which you come into contact with CHEMISTREE, it is a case of commissioned processing from a data protection perspective: CHEMISTREE collects and processes your personal data on behalf of the respective customer. Therefore, the respective client (and not us) will inform you about the details of data collection and processing. Please note the specific data protection information of each platform and always contact the responsible client directly with any questions and to exercise your rights.

What rights are you entitled to?

Information and correction

You can request information from us as to whether and which of your data CHEMISTREE is processing. If the data is incorrect or incomplete, you can request that it be corrected/completed.

Deletion

You can request the deletion of your data. We will check your request and then inform you about the deletion of your data.
Exceptions to deletion are cases in which we are obliged to store certain data for longer due to legal provisions (e.g. retention period for accounting documents of currently 10 years).
If participants are inactive, we reserve the right to delete the account of those who have not been logged in to the online platform for more than 36 months.

Restriction of processing

You can request that we restrict the processing of your data. To do so, please let us know the categories of data to be restricted together with your reasons for the restriction. We will review your request and then inform you whether and how a restriction will be imposed.

Data portability

You have the right to receive the personal data processed by us in a transferable format. Please let us know which data you would like to transfer and where. We will clarify the technical requirements on this basis and, if necessary, coordinate with you to provide you with the appropriate transfer format.

Revocation and objection

You can revoke your consent to the processing and storage of your data at any time. To do so, please contact us in writing, preferably by e-mail.

If we process your data for legitimate interest on the basis of a balancing of interests (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR), you are entitled to object to the processing if there are reasons for this arising from your particular situation.

Complaint to a supervisory authority

If you are dissatisfied with our work in connection with data protection, you can complain to the supervisory authority in your federal state to lodge a complaint.

For what purpose and in what form do we collect and process your data?

1. registration of a CHEMISTREE user account

When you access the registration page, your IP address is processed by the web server and data transmitted by your browser for communication with your end device. Your IP address is not collected directly by CHEMISTREE, but is only stored on the web host’s server for the specified period as part of standard processes and for IT security purposes.
The actual registration form is used to collect and process the data required to create a user account (salutation, title, surname, first name, e-mail address). Without this information, we cannot create a user account – and therefore cannot provide you with our service.

2. participation in matching

Some basic information about the process: To determine optimal individual matches, personal data is collected and processed from you as a participant using online questionnaires. The information requested varies depending on the requirements and objectives, but the system of the matching process remains the same. The processing also includes the transmission of certain data to a third party (your Tandem partner) following the matching process.

a) Matching

Based on your personal data (e.g. professional information, thematic queries, personal settings and preferences), we use algorithms to automatically create customized individual matches. If you do not wish to answer individual questions within the matching questionnaire, this may result in a suboptimal match or possibly no match at all.

b) Matching notifications

During various stages of tandem formation and collaboration, we will notify you by e-mail
(e.g. matching questionnaire complete, match identified or confirmed, first contact made, etc.).

3. participation in the community

Depending on the aim of the individual platform, it also offers networking and event functionality. For this purpose, selected data (e.g. your profile) is made visible to other participants in the community.

a) Community News

As a participant in a CHEMISTREE Community, we will inform you about functional innovations, practical examples and current events in the form of Community News by e-mail. You can unsubscribe at any time, the easiest way is to use the link at the end of each news item.

b) Community events

We invite participants from our communities to our own and third-party events. The respective registration takes place via the matching platform; if necessary, further information relevant to the event organization is determined via questionnaires. If you plan to take part in an event, we will process your data for the relevant purpose.

How is your data protected?

 
To protect your personal data, we have taken measures that comply with data protection law and the state of the art in our industry. These are continuously reviewed and adapted if necessary. The aim is to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction or unauthorized access by third parties.

To transfer data between our website and our backend systems, communication is encrypted using the TLS (Transport Layer Security) method.

Our employees are regularly trained in the appropriate sensitive handling of personal data and are obliged to maintain data confidentiality in accordance with legal requirements.

Changes

We revise the data protection information at irregular intervals in order to adapt it to current developments at CHEMISTREE, our products and services as well as legal requirements and social developments.
